‘Fringe’ Season Finale Hits Low in Friday Ratings
Did last night’s game-changing season finale of Fringe really exist? (Spoiler alert)
A big, shocking reveal that elicited online reaction didn’t seem to boost audience tune-in for its 15-year “jump forward.” Fringe tied a series low 1.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 3.3 million total viewers, according to its preliminary numbers.
Fox has already renewed the heavily-serialized drama for a 22-episode fourth season, with executive producer Jeff Pinkner telling THR in late March that they weren’t “necessarily surprised” at the pickup. Series star John Noble shared some insight with THR after the initial move to Thursdays, saying, “It was a huge compliment for us to be put there but it was murderous up against Grey’s Anatomy,CSI and The Office … We did erode our numbers.” One has to wonder if drastic changes will take place.
