>’Fringe’ execs ‘have seven-year plan’

>The executive producers of Fringe have revealed that they have a seven-year plan for the show.

Some fans have expressed concern that the sci-fi drama could be cancelled following its move to a new Friday night slot.

However, in an official Fox interview, Jeff Pinkner said: “We have pitched to the network our five, six and seven-year plan for this show… which has garnered more and more excitement.”

He added: “There’s no concern that the show’s being moved to Friday. It’s being moved to Friday because we all believe that that’s where the show can live for years and years.”

Co-producer Joel Wyman said that Fox had not wavered in its support of the series.

“As far as the naysayers go, there’s always going to be people saying [the move] is the worst thing ever and ‘I’ve been betrayed by Fox before’,” he argued. “[The network executives are] just trying to do their jobs as best they can and they’ve shown us nothing but support.”

Pinkner suggested that much of the speculation surrounding the show’s future is groundless.

“There is a lot more anxiety in the media and in the fanbase than there is from us,” he claimed. “We heard about the move… on a Friday [and] by Monday, we were thrilled.”

He added: “The move was actually an opportunity for Fox to… do better on Friday, as opposed to everybody’s perception which is, ‘Oh, this is Fox losing love for the show’ which is truly not the case’.”

Fringe returns to Fox tonight at 9/8c.
